The process begins with the foundation stone:
1. External Locus of Control – Is believing or allowing outside influences to disrupt or even control your emotional states. This can be taking a negative comment personally instead of being able to analyse the comment for what it is.
We can teach you that – how to focus on the things you have control over and how to balance your emotional states, which gives you more self control and self belief.
2. Global Thinking – This can be seen by imaging the problem as being larger than it actually is, this can lead to feeling overwhelmed when dealing with certain problems.
We help you break down problems and help you identify any skills gaps to resolve those problems long term.
3. Internal Orientation – People have a tendency to believe that every thought or feeling they have is valid. This is not true and some of our thoughts & feelings need to be challenged in order to improve our mental health.
We teach you how to test your thoughts and feelings with the outside world to see if they are accurate.
4. Ineffective Compartmentalisation – People running anxiety can often take things too personally because of past associations to negative comments.
We teach you how to organise your thoughts, which will help you disassociate from past negative experiences and allow you to better regulate your emotions.
5. Low Tolerance For Ambiguity – This is one of the key factors in anxiety. People are often afraid of the unknown. Yet all your future success exists in the unknown. The love of your life may exist in the unknown. Sport would be pointless if we all knew the outcomes to every game that was played.
We teach you how to look forward to what your future may become.
6. Avoidant Coping Style – People avoid responsibilities if they believe there is a chance they will experience anxiety. This often leads to people feeling stuck.
We teach you how to overcome this and move forward.
7. Future Orientation – People that run anxiety often spend much time thinking about negative outcomes happening to them in future situations. The truth is 98% of the time, those negative future expectations never actually happen. Negative thoughts trigger stress hormones to be released into the mind and body.
We teach you how to become aware of your anxiety responses and how to control them.
